India Defence News – Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh emphasized the critical need for soldiers to combine combat expertise with mental resilience and spiritual empowerment to address the complexities of modern warfare. Speaking at an event organized by the Brahma Kumaris at their headquarters in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, on April 21, 2025, he highlighted the evolving nature of conflicts, which now span cyber, space, information, and psychological domains. “To protect the nation, soldiers need not only weapons but also a strong personality, enlightened consciousness, and heightened awareness,” he stated.

Shri Rajnath Singh underscored that while physical strength is essential, mental fortitude is equally crucial for soldiers operating in challenging environments. Prolonged stress and uncertainty can impact mental health, making inner strength vital.

He praised the Brahma Kumaris’ campaign, themed ‘Self-Empowerment - Through Inner Awakening,’ for its focus on enhancing soldiers’ mental, emotional, and spiritual resilience through meditation, yoga, positive thinking, and self-dialogue. “Self-transformation is the seed, and national transformation is its fruit,” he remarked, noting that India’s approach to balancing inner well-being with border security could inspire globally.

Highlighting India’s cultural heritage, the Defence Minister described yoga and spirituality as powerful tools to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges, enabling security personnel to serve as a “lighthouse” for the nation. He commended the Security Service Wing of Brahma Kumaris for supporting armed forces through residential programs, field initiatives, online training, and specialized campaigns.

During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, and the Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation of Brahma Kumaris. The agreement aims to promote better mental health among Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) beneficiaries, reducing their reliance on medication through holistic practices. The initiative reflects India’s commitment to the well-being of its veterans and serving soldiers, reinforcing national security through empowered minds.
