Indian Navy News – The Indian Navy marked a significant milestone with the induction of the 10th Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge, LSAM 24 (Yard 134), at a ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on April 22, 2025. The event was presided over by Commodore AKK Reddy, AGM (PR), ND (Mumbai), as the chief guest.

The barge, constructed by M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, a Thane-based MSME shipyard, is part of a contract signed on March 5, 2021, for the delivery of 11 ACTCM barges.

Designed in collaboration with an Indian ship design firm and rigorously tested for seaworthiness at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory in Visakhapatnam, the barge adheres to the stringent Naval Rules and Regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).

The LSAM 24 exemplifies the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, showcasing India’s indigenous shipbuilding capabilities.

With nine ACTCM barges already delivered, the shipyard has also secured a contract to build four sullage barges for the Indian Navy, underscoring the Navy’s commitment to supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

These barges enhance the Navy’s operational efficiency by facilitating the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of ammunition and supplies to naval platforms at jetties and outer harbors.

The induction of LSAM 24 strengthens the Indian Navy’s logistical capabilities, reinforcing its readiness to meet operational demands while promoting self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
