India Defence News – The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Department of Defence Production (DDP) organized a two-day interactive workshop on April 24-25, 2025, focusing on the adoption of Industry 4.0 and Quality Assurance (QA) 4.0 in defence production. Held at the Headquarters of the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA), the workshop aimed to explore automation strategies for Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and facilitate knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
Joint Secretary (Land Systems), MoD/DDP, Dr. Garima Bhagat, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the MoD’s commitment to collaborating with DPSUs and industry partners to integrate advanced technologies such as
- IoT,
- Big Data Analytics,
- AI, and
- Blockchain.
These technologies are pivotal for adopting Industry 4.0 and QA 4.0 standards to produce world-class defence products. The workshop featured interactive sessions where participants discussed practical implementation strategies and shared experiences.
Director General of DGQA, Shri N. Manoharan, announced that a National Level Defence Quality Conclave is scheduled for May 8, 2025. During the conclave, a vision document on the adoption of Industry 4.0 and QA 4.0 will be released, followed by an expert panel discussion on the topic.
The workshop was held as part of the ‘Year of Reforms’ initiative, under the guidance of Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and Secretary (Defence Production) Shri Sanjeev Kumar, reflecting the government’s focus on modernizing defence manufacturing processes.
