IOS SAGAR Wraps Up Impactful Port Call at Port Louis, Mauritius, Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Indian Navy News – The Indian Naval Ship Sunayna, operating as IOS SAGAR, concluded a meaningful port call at Port Louis, Mauritius, from April 26 to 28, 2025, as part of its operational deployment in the Indian Ocean. The visit highlighted the strong and enduring partnership between India and Mauritius, fostering maritime cooperation and goodwill.

During the visit, the ship’s Commanding Officer met with the Commandant of the Mauritius Coast Guard, reaffirming both nations’ commitment to enhancing maritime collaboration. A select group from the multinational crew visited key Mauritius Police Force (MPF) facilities, including the Special Mobile Force Squadron, Maritime Air Squadron, Coast Guard Training School, and Police Helicopter Squadron. These interactions facilitated valuable exchanges of knowledge and discussions on mutual interests in maritime security.

The port call featured several social and cultural activities. A joint yoga session was held onboard IOS SAGAR, attended by the multinational crew, MPF personnel, and the Commandant of the National Coast Guard, promoting wellness and camaraderie. The crew also engaged in a friendly volleyball match with the MPF. 

The ship opened its decks to visitors, including MPF members, the Indian diaspora, and local enthusiasts, offering tours and briefings on its operational capabilities, navigation systems, and onboard life. Additionally, the crew, including multinational personnel, participated in a trek to Signal Mountain, a notable local landmark.

Following its departure from Port Louis, IOS SAGAR is set to conduct a joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance with the Mauritius Coast Guard. Afterward, the ship will head to its next destination, Port Victoria, Seychelles, continuing its mission to strengthen maritime security, regional cooperation, and goodwill across the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
