On April 20, 2025, more than 5,000 participants gathered at Army Hospital (Research & Referral) in New Delhi for the inaugural Soldierathon, titled “Run for Soldiers and Run with Soldiers.” Organized by Army Hospital (R&R) and Fitistan – Ek Fit Bharat, the event celebrated the courage of India’s Armed Forces, uniting veterans, active soldiers, civilians, students, and fitness enthusiasts in a powerful display of solidarity.
The Soldierathon offered three categories—10 km timed run, 5 km fun run, and 3 km walk—designed to promote inclusivity and encourage widespread participation. Runners shared the course with soldiers, inspired by their discipline and dedication to the nation.
Mizoram Governor General (Dr) VK Singh (Retd) flagged off the event, joined by senior military leaders, including the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, and Director General Armed Forces Medical Services, among others. The atmosphere was charged with patriotism and heartfelt tributes to India’s heroes.
Beyond celebration, the event raised funds for the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre in Kirkee, Pune, which supports soldiers injured in service with specialized care and therapy. The massive turnout underscored a collective commitment to honoring and supporting the nation’s defenders.
